Table and Full Modes
Use Image to Table in Table mode when the source clearly contains rows and columns. Use Full when the page includes mixed content and you want more than just a table.
Open Extensions > Text To Table Converter > Selected Image to Table, or launch the same feature from the sidebar at Convert & Format > Selected Image to Table.
What You Can Do
Section titled “What You Can Do”- Rebuild tables from images: Convert screenshots, scans, photos, and PDF pages into editable tables.
- Extract broader page content: Use
Fullwhen the page includes headings, blocks of text, or mixed layout content. - Preview before inserting: Check the active item before inserting the result.
- Clean up tables in Table Editor: In
Tablemode, open extracted tables in Table Editor before final insertion.
Quick Start
Section titled “Quick Start”- Open
Selected Image to Tablefrom the menu or sidebar. - Load the source from the current selection, upload, paste, or Google Drive™.
- Choose
TableorFull. - Preview the active item if needed.
- Insert the result, or open it in Table Editor when you want to clean up a table first.
Load Sources
Section titled “Load Sources”Selected Images in Docs and Slides
Section titled “Selected Images in Docs and Slides”If you already have a supported image selected in Google Docs™ or Google Slides™, Image to Table can start from that selection directly.
- Select the image in your document or presentation.
- Open
Extensions>Text To Table Converter>Selected Image to Table. - Review the loaded item, choose
TableorFull, and run the extraction.
Upload, Paste, or Drive
Section titled “Upload, Paste, or Drive”Use the modal when you want to work from a local file, a copied screenshot, or a file in Google Drive™.
- Open
Selected Image to Table. - Upload an image or PDF, paste an image, or choose a file from Google Drive™.
- If the source is a PDF, select the page or pages you want.
- Choose
TableorFulland continue with preview or extraction.
Choose the Right Mode
Section titled “Choose the Right Mode”Use Table when the visible goal is an editable table.
- Best for screenshots of spreadsheets, scanned reports, dashboards, and printed tables
- Best when row and column structure matters
- Best when you want to continue cleanup in Table Editor
Use Full when the page includes more than a simple table.
- Best for mixed page content
- Best when the source includes headings or text blocks
- Best when forcing everything into a grid would lose useful context
Tips for Better Results
Section titled “Tips for Better Results”- Use clear images with readable text and strong contrast.
- Crop to the important area when the page contains extra background or whitespace.
- For PDFs, select only the pages that contain useful content.
- Review the preview before inserting when the source quality is uneven.
